With the Business Association putting up magnificent Jubilee bunting and choosing a red, white and blue colour scheme for their hanging baskets, SSIB decided to match this royal colour scheme for the SSIB planters and baskets too. Once again it was a three-day operation – SSIB taking out the winter plants on Friday May 27th and planting them in York House Community Garden so they would be ready to recycle in the planters next spring. On the Sunday, the Business Association and Christmas Lights team put up their baskets, and kindly fetched the summer 3-tier planters, barrier baskets and octagon baskets from Preston Bissett for the SSIB and the Town Council. The final stage of Changeover came on Monday June 30th, when SSIB volunteers gathered at different planters to receive the plants from Preston Bissett nursery and plant up. For the last few years SSIB has chosen red, white and pink geraniums as they are drought resistant, and water conservation is a key aim of Stony in Bloom. This year we added some blue salvias and lobelia to the mix, so we had a red, white and blue match for the SSBA colour scheme. The vibrant colours of the planters and baskets are lighting up the streets around the town, and many residents have complimented Stony in Bloom on the colourful array
