Spirituality Garden

Aware of the toll on mental health that the last couple of years of taken, and of the need for a quiet space for young people in such stressful times, SMSG School decided they’d like to create a Spirituality Garden in each site, and they organised a garden design competition amongst the pupils so that the project would be pupil-led. SSIB was asked to judge the competition, and this was done by Judy Deveson and Pat Kyd for North Site, and Anu Chundur and Stephanie Zeghlache for South Site. All four judges were hugely impressed by the creativity and thoughtfulness of the designs, and the first steps have been taken to translate those wonderful ideas into reality. Conscious of the need to conserve water, water butts are going to be installed – and an atmosphere of calm will be achieved through sensory plants, herbs, white roses, and a solar powered water feature/bird bath.
