To our delight we learned at the Regional Britain in Bloom Awards Ceremony in September that Stonyinbloom had won the Small Town Trophy and with Gold! We were also proud to win a special Regional Award for Caring for the Environment. All our It’s Your Neighbourhood Groups did brilliantly – with Mary Robinson’s North End Pond Project and the York House Community Gardens assessed as Outstanding; the Fullers Slade IYN as flourishing; and the Galley Hill IYN Group as Improving. The judges observed that Stony Stratford in Bloom has certainly achieved its aim of ‘cheering the town with flowers’, contributing to this historic town being a happy, healthy place to live, work and visit.’

In their report they also said that ‘it was lovely to visit St Mary & St Giles School and to hear the children talking so enthusiastically about what they had been doing and growing in the garden.’ The school was awarded Highly Commended. The judges were also complimentary about the school gardening taking place at SMSG South Site.
