Stony in Bloom feels very honoured to have been chosen to represent the Thames and Chilterns Region in the Britain in Bloom competition next year! We’ll be judged by the Regional Judges in early July, as usual, and they will give us some tips which will allow us to tweak things ready for the National Judges to come to town and judge us in August. We know that we do well in the Britain in Bloom competition because it is a whole town community effort – with the Business Association organising the magnificent baskets all down the High St with local businesses; individual businesses and groups sponsoring planters; the Town Council paying for the flowers in the planters and the watering of them; the church volunteers ensuring the church gardens in the centre of the town bloom beautifully; the It’s Your Neighbourhood Groups at the North end, York House, Fullers Slade and Horsefair Green Memorial Gardens all keeping their neighbourhoods looking good – all combining with the Stony in Bloom volunteers to ensure our town looks lovely. And we know that residents will be rooting for us too, and through their appreciation, boosting our morale as we prepare for the judging days next
summer.
