The Winter to Summer Changeover Was a Week Later, this Year!

The changeover of the planters from winter to summer was a week later this year because of the cold spring, but it was well worth the wait, and the planters and baskets are looking lovely. As always, we combined forces with the Business Association for this transformation of the town over 2 days – June 7th and 8th. The colour theme for the baskets and planters is red, purple and lime green –though the lime looks closer to white. The colours have definitely been given the thumbs up by residents as they are bright and eye-catching.
As always, we planted up the winter plants that could be saved in our York House Community Bed, where they will be carefully tended until the go back in the planters next October.
The planter at the High St end of Church St is different from the rest: it’s planted up with suffragette coloured plants of purple, white and green, and is decorated with a sash. Eileen Cox, who was keen to commemorate the 100 Year anniversary of the women’s suffrage campaign, sponsored the plants and sash.
