Sizzling Plants for Summer for Stony Stratford!

At the start of June SSIB volunteers and the SSBA/Odell Christmas Lights team combined on the changeover days to transform the town with vibrant summer annuals. While the SSBA team was hard at work putting up the beautiful, zinging red baskets the SSIB volunteers were emptying the planters ready to receive the new plants. All the shrubs that can be re-used in the planters were replanted in our York House Community plot ready for their reappearance in the autumn.

On the following morning a band of volunteers were waiting bright and early for the van from Preston Bissett Nursery, eager to fill the planters – the colour scheme here being mostly red and light blue and in the petal planters and barrier baskets an additional touch of dazzling white.

As usual, we have the ‘adopt a planter’ scheme – whereby individual volunteers opt to look after a particular planter, which they dead-head and weed in the course of the year.
