SSIB Plant Sale and Tombola at York House - Fun and Fund-raising Combined!

SSIB’s annual Plant Sale and Tombola – combined as usual with York House Coffee and Cakes - was a huge success, bringing in £625 to SSIB to make the town more beautiful, and well over £300 for York House’s community gardens. The Town Crier, in full regalia, publicised the event in a walk from Odell’s to York House – his resonant voice letting shoppers know of the great bargains to be had. The bard then honoured things horticultural in wonderfully flamboyant style, before the children planted up the attractive new sharing bed at the back of York House; and the Shakespeare Society entertained all with Shakespearean excerpts – the final event in the year-long homage to the bard of the other Stratford to commemorate 400 years since his death.
