RHS Theme for 2017

Greening Grey Britain for Wildlife is the new RHS Theme for 2017 – so they’re looking for In-Bloom and IYN groups to find grey places in towns and cities and brighten them up with insect-attracting plants. Increasing bio-diversity is all!

Check out the January edition of the RHS Community Magazine, Grass Roots, to pick up some suggestions!

• Create mini-gardens in paving > get permission to lift a slab or two and plant up with tough pollinator-friendly plants such as thyme.

• Plant wild flowers in the verges.

• Download the RHS Perfect for Pollinators plant lists and add to displays and hanging baskets.

• Create vertical gardens – climbers growing against walls.

They are offering direct support from our outreach advisers and up to £500 per project towards plant and material costs for a number of groups. The deadline for applying is Feb 17th.
