Golden Garden Awards 2015

Once again, the Regional Judge, Anne Kempson, kindly joined Pat Kyd and Mary Sarre in judging the front garden competition that SSIB organises, and this year we had an extra prize for the best floral containers. Anne also handed out prizes and certificates at the award ceremony, which was held in the Library. Anne said she was hugely impressed by the standard of the gardens, and it’s a credit to the town that each year the list of those gaining a highly commended certificate gets longer.

The winner of the front garden competition was Hazel Wallis, and joint 2nd were Agnes Robinson and Mr and Mrs Henson. SSIB continued the practice begun last year of giving out special awards for community gardening. As always, the church gardens have looked stunning all summer, and gained this award for the second year running. This year the Greek Church also had a special award, as did the WI for their carpet bedding celebrating 100 years of the WI.
